Moyles Court School proudly marked the opening of their new tennis and multi-sports courts today.
A celebration took place as Peter Norfolk, OBE officially opened the courts with a ‘first serve’ in front of an audience of pupils, staff, parents and friends of Moyles Court. He then played a few rallies with Moyles Court pupils.
Peter is a paralympian for tennis and ambassador for Sparks charity, for whom Moyles Court has raised £500. Sparks is a leading children’s medical research charity dedicated to funding and promoting pioneering research into a wide range of conditions and disabilities affecting babies, children and mums-to-be.
Mr Greg Meakin, Headmaster said: “It is such a privilege to have Peter officially open our courts today and whose inspirational talk to pupils was very special, including his showing of his Paralympic medals from Athens, Beijing and London! We are so proud to have this fantastic new facility that enables our pupils, of all sporting abilities, to practise their skills and enjoy fun tournaments and competitions. We are committed to continue working with Sparks and hopefully Peter Norfolk to raise funds and awareness.”
A cheque presentation to Sparks, concluded the celebrations on this memorable afternoon.
Sean Kelly, Director of Fundraising at Sparks, said: “It’s staggering to think that in the UK, one in 30 babies is born with a medical condition which may affect them for life. With the fantastic support of Peter Norfolk and wonderful fundraising efforts of Moyles Court School, Sparks can continue to fund even more pioneering medical research to help babies, children and mums-to-be.“
