The AONB Cranborne Chase Woodfair is coming to Breamore in Hampshire next weekend 5 and 6 October.
Organised by the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty team the event features a fantastic line up of central arena events plus steam-driven saw mills, dog displays, medieval falconry, axe-wielding lumber jacks, tree-climbing, local history and a huge shopping marquee. There is special emphasis on local enterprise and local food and drink.
David Blake, one of the organisers, said “We want people to come and taste local food, have a go at an activity, learn something unexpected and feel hungry for more. The Woodfair is a celebration of the wood craft that is to be found in the region. We present this to our visitors undiluted by an overly commercial event. You will have a lot of fun climbing trees, watching the displays and taking part in the theatre shows and you will discover a treasure-trove of local products from food and furniture to toys and games. If you are looking for a fantastic day out this is it. If you want to get ahead with the Christmas shopping, look no further.”
A number of exciting bespoke workshops have been created. These are available on a limited basis ahead of the event.
On the Sunday the chainsaw carvers, many of international repute, will be holding a public auction for the creations they have designed over the weekend. So if you want something unique for the garden, your office courtyard or a public building do come along. You will be able to leave sealed bids on the Saturday or the team will even take telephone bids for you if needed.
Advance tickets purchased before 1 October are available at 20% discount. For more information and tickets, go to www.woodfair.org.uk or ring 08452 305177.
