The action this Thursday by members of the National Union of Teachers and the National Association of Schoolmasters & Union of Women Teachers is expected to close hundreds of schools across the UK.
The unions are in dispute with Education Secretary Michael Gove over planned changes to pay and conditions.
A local rally is being held at the RNLI’s Waterfront Suite in Poole and mass rallies are being held elsewhere around the country including in London. Teachers are being urged to attend.
But the closure of schools could cause chaos for many working parents.
Local provider of flexible childcare in Dorset, Hampshire and Somerset, is opening its doors for schoolchildren to help parents with emergency childcare.
Cheryl Hadland, Managing Director of Tops Day Nurseries, commented: “We opened our doors last time when there was a teachers strike and we were inundated with children needing emergency care. If parents are affected by the teacher strikes planned for this Thursday, and need childcare for this day, please do contact us. We are opening our doors for a fun-packed day for the children, but we do have limited spaces, so we will be taking bookings on a first-come, first-served basis.”
