Twelve images, including the two overall winners of the competition will be exhibited in the Royal Arcade, Boscombe on Saturday 11 January, 11am–2pm.
Local resident, David Butcher’s night time image of fishermen on Boscombe Pier and Bethany Junior school pupil, Morgan Ford and his unusual view of the boardwalk on the Pier were selected as the overall winners of the competition.
Another ten entries were also selected showcasing a number of well known places in Boscombe including a snowy Shelley Park, Churchill Gardens and the Royal Arcade. All twelve images feature in the Backing Boscombe 2014 calendar which will be available on the day for free for local residents to pick up a copy.
Councillor Jane Kelly, Cabinet Member for Partnerships and Regeneration, said: “We had a fantastic response to the competition and we were spoilt for choice of images that local residents had taken of life in Boscombe. The exhibition will be a great opportunity to show off the talent of local people as well as providing an opportunity for residents to pick up a free copy of the Backing Boscombe 2014 calendar which features all 12 of the winning images. We hope that the project will help to positively raise the profile of Boscombe and the good work and commitment that is taking place to improve the area.”
