Ashley Cross-based Patrick’s and Leader and Co estate agents joined forces to raise £979.13 from a Christmas charity pub quiz in aid of local five-year-old ‘butterfly’ boy Mason White.
Mason suffers from a rare genetic skin disease called Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (RDEB), which is referred to as the ‘butterfly disease’ as it causes the skin to be so delicate that the slightest knock can cause severe blistering both inside and outside the body.
The Christmas-themed quiz was hosted by popular quizmaster Paul Kinvig at Patrick’s. Competing teams donated funds by entering the quiz and bidding on auction prizes, with all the proceeds going to DebRA – the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by RDEB.
Organiser Ryan Woolfenden, owner of Leader and Co estate agents, says: “Thank you to everyone who took part in our quiz and donated so generously to help support Mason in his everyday battle in coping with this debilitating condition. It is a real inspiration to see someone so young refuse to let the pain and the constant questions get him down.
“We hope that the funds raised from this fun evening will go some way to supporting DebRA in its quest to find a cure and raise awareness of RDEB to make life a little easier for sufferers, like Mason.”
