Organisers of a popular beach volleyball tournament have served up the proceeds to their nominated charity.
Battens Solicitors netted a fantastic £1,047 for the South West Dorset branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society (MS) from the annual contest on Weymouth beach.
MS branch chairman Graham Watts said: “It is a huge sum of money and a great boost to our funds.
“We are so grateful to Battens and everyone that took part.
“It is our single biggest donation over the past year and every penny will go to help people locally.”
Some 32 teams from local businesses and organisations fought out the charity beach volleyball tournament organised by Battens Solicitors last August.
The sixth-annual extravaganza was won by GH Podiatry.
Battens Solicitors’ annual tournament takes places on the eve of the televised RAF Careers Volleyball Classic on Weymouth beach.
Battens solicitor, Cherise Luke-Bennett has been involved in the organisation of the event since it began.
She said: “This year, the charity beach volleyball tournament will take place on Weymouth Beach on Thursday July 31.
“We look forward to welcoming teams from businesses across the region. Registration details can be found on our website.”
The South West Dorset MS branch has 160 members, of which about 100 have MS. It organises transport, physiotherapy, outings, exercise classes and mobility aids among other services.
The MS Society estimates that the total number of people living with MS in Dorset is 1,160.
