As part of the programme of events for Dorset Art Weeks, Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) has teamed-up with Dorset based outdoors activity company Jurassic Electric to invite visitors to the Kingcombe Centre and nature reserve to enjoy the local landscape and wildlife in west Dorset by electric bike.
Martin Gershon from Jurassic Electric said: “We are delighted to be adding a new guided electric bike tour from the picturesque Kingcombe Centre to the range of routes we already offer. All our tours are taken at a steady pace, allowing time to admire a wonderful west Dorset landscape or local beauty spot, and there’s always a stop for refreshments along the way. Inevitably, routes around west Dorset including Eggardon Hill and Powerstock do involve some hills, but the electric motor on our bikes provides extra power to one’s own peddling, making a real difference and allowing everyone to enjoy the experience in comfort.”
DWT volunteer, Stephen Baynes, recently went out on an electric bike ride trail at Kingcombe. He said: “I’m not an experienced cyclist, but I got used to the bike very quickly, and turning up the settings on the hills made it far easier! We covered an impressive 12 miles which is a much greater distance than I could ever have done on a push bike.”
The electric bike taster for members of the public is on Sunday 8 June with opportunities to try part of the new Kingcombe route on one hour guided tours leaving at 10.30am, 2.00pm and 3.30pm. Minimum age requirement 14-years-old. The price for the tour £10pp, which includes refreshments at the Kingcombe Centre’s café. Whilst at the Kingcombe Centre there will be plenty to see and do with Dorset Art Weeks exhibitions, activities and children’s events.
