Broadstone welcomes all bakers to its 2nd Annual Bake Off competition on Saturday 10 May.
Last year the event produced the Broadstone Bun and this year one of the 9 categories will be to try and replicate last year’s winning entry.
The Bake Off is part of the Step into Broadstone Event that promotes what is on offer in Broadstone every day. As well as the two bakers, there are two butchers and two greengrocers as well as two supermarkets, two pubs and even more cafes. The suburban centre to the North of Poole also boasts top end ladies’ fashion, a destination jewellers and a nationally acclaimed optician.
The Broadstone Bun itself is soon to be made and sold at Molly’s Café with some proceeds going to support the cost of the Broadstone Christmas Lights.
As well as those businesses that make this an excellent centre for shopping there will be special attractions such as Maypole dancing, a bouncy castle, stalls, photo trails and much more.
The photo trail will test the observational skills of competitors and Broadstone own board game “Broadopoly” will ensure participants win a prize. Come along and join in with the Maypole dancing or just listen to the street musicians and watch the artists.
The special event aims to show case to locals and to residents in surrounding suburbs what a complete range of shops and products and choice is available on their doorsteps.
Broadstone also boasts the only Street WI FI in Dorset and its very own Broadstone Village website. It also has its very own song that is still available for download and unsurprisingly called ‘Step into Broadstone’.
The event is opened at midday by the Poole Town Crier and the special attractions and stalls will continue until 4pm.
Simon Merry, Chairman of The Broadstone Chamber of Trade says “Whether you are local or travelling in from further afield you will find value, choice and quality as well as friendly faces every day ’.
