Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) is encouraging children to spend some time outside to experience and learn about wildlife this May half term.
The Kingcombe Centre is hosting an Art Weeks exhibition of 12 artists, and there are lots of events for families.
On Thursday 29 May, older children (12+) who fancy getting their feet wet, can try the guided clear-bottomed Kayak safari at The Purbeck Marine wildlife reserve in Kimmeridge Bay and experience marine wildlife like never before. Goggle viewers help them get up and close and personal with marine wildlife. Booking essential on 01929 481044.
Lorton Meadows Conservation Centre is holding a whole host of family activities, including the Lorton Meadows Family Festival on Saturday 31 May from 11am – 3pm. Wildlife activities and crafts will be on offer, such as making a puppet to take home, the ‘best nest’ competition, and games such as fishing for ducks. Families can also explore the reserve on the wildlife trail. Individual activities cost between 50p-£1. For more information, phone 01305 816546.
