The new Julia’s House Ferndown Friends’ Group is holding a launch event on Monday 2 June in The Nightjar pub, Ferndown.
The meeting, which runs from 4pm until 5.30pm, is an opportunity for local people to find out how they can support the children’s hospice in their community.
Donna Sibley, Julia’s House Friends’ Group Fundraiser, said: “Whether you can spare one hour a month or help at two or three events a year, your help will really make a difference. We are looking forward to meeting some new friends!”
Julia’s House supports Dorset families with life-limited children, providing frequent respite care both in its Corfe Mullen-based hospice and in their own homes. Julia’s House is there year-round and in a crisis, offering emotional and practical support, emergency respite and end-of-life care. It supports the whole family, not just the sick child, organising social activities for parents and siblings. Government funding accounts for just 7.5 per cent of the £3.9m Julia’s House needs to raise in 2014 to run this vital free service.
