It will describe the town’s vital role in World War 2, the effects of the devastating1943 bombing and the days leading up to D-Day when Bournemouth and Poole Bay played a vital part in preparations for this extraordinary military push.
John Walker, now 81, was evacuated to Bournemouth from Portsmouth during the war years, and has strong memories of the time. His interesting and entertaining recollections al help to make this morning walk a fascinating and rewarding occasion.
Walks will take place on Friday 6 June and Saturday 7 June. Interested participants should meet outside the Tourist Information Office in Westover Road ready for a 10.30am start. The cost is £7.50 or £6.00 for students and over sixties.
