At visit to Marwell Zoo by Brownsea Class from Beaucroft Foundation School was a great success. The pupils enjoyed a ride on the Land Train, had lunch with their friends and were excited to be able to get up close to the animals. Among their favourites were the elephants and lions.
Children from Brownsea Class at Beaucroft Foundation School recently visited Marwell Zoo thanks to funding from the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation. The pupils enjoyed a ride on the land train, had lunch with their friends and were excited to be able to get up close to the animals. Among their favourites were the elephants and lions.
The JTYAF also funded a Junior Keeper Experience for two students who had an unforgettable visit behind the scenes at the zoo, preparing food, mucking out enclosures and meeting and feeding some of the animals too. They came back to school with lots of goodies including a certificate and souvenir bag to remind them of their day.
Beaucroft Foundation School is a school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties, many of whom have additional complex difficulties and/or disabilities, mainly autistic spectrum disorders or sensory impairments.
JTYAF has supported Beaucroft Foundation School for four years, helping to provide the students with experiences that will enhance their learning and expose them to activities that they may not otherwise encounter.
