A wooden sculpture of an eagle vanished from the garden of a property along Preetz Way in Blandford between 6pm on Friday 31 October and 8.30am on Saturday 1 November.
Police Community Support Officer Mike Sinnick, of Blandford police, said: “The sculpture is very distinct and I hope somebody may be able to help with our enquiries.
“It is about 80 centimetres tall, stained with light and dark brown oil and quite heavy but could be carried by a person
“I urge anyone who witnessed the theft or may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time to come forward.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who knows of the whereabouts of the wooden eagle or has been offered such an item in strange circumstances or for an unusually low price.”
