CCTV image of the man police would like to talk to
Police are investigating an unpleasant assault on a Wilts and Dorset bus driver in Bournemouth.
The incident happened at around 2.30pm on Saturday 27 September 2014 in Gervis Place in the town centre.
The victim, a 51-year-old man from Poole, was driving a Wilts and Dorset bus along Poole Road in Westbourne when a man signalled for the bus to stop for collection however he was too late and the driver was unable to stop.
When the driver was forced to stop for traffic a short time later, the offender pursued the bus on foot and verbally abused the driver in front of passengers. The driver carried on.
As the driver stopped ten minutes later in Gervis Place to let passengers on and off, he became aware of the suspect taking photographs of him. The offender then stood in front of the bus to prevent it from leaving before approaching the driver and spitting in his face through an open window.
Police Constable Sadie Plewka, of Bournemouth police, said: “This was an unpleasant and unprovoked assault on a bus driver in front of a number of passengers.
“Following my investigation, I am now in a position to release a CCTV image of the suspect and would urge anyone who recognises him to call me in confidence.”
