Two popular collections of model trains attracted huge interest at Lawrences Auctioneers of Crewkerne last week.
Both collections were compiled by a gentleman in the Taunton area. The first collection included a large number of Wrenn, Hornby and Bachmann locomotives, all boxed and in good condition. With interest from private buyers and dealers, estimates were left far behind as the collection raised over £12,000 in auction.
The second collection included a large number of HO gauge brass locomotives and locomotives by Rivarossi, Marklin, Lilliput, Rowa, and many more. Highlights included a Wrenn Peregrine Locomotive £240, Rivarossi Locomotives and rolling stock £400, Japanese brass locomotive Southern Pacific £490, Tenshodo Brass Locomotive £380, 0 gauge locomotives and tenders £270 and £280, Railway Kits £500 and Rowa Locomotives and rolling stock £550.
Lawrences Auctioneer Simon Jones said, “Trains continue to be extremely popular in auction, and the interest in the room and on the internet was tremendous to see.”
