Celebrate the Christmas period by visiting the Priest’s House Museum & Garden in Wimborne Minster from Monday 8 to Tuesday 23 December (excluding Saturday 13 December, closed Sundays), 10 to 3. Admission is FREE, and the house and garden tearoom will be open and festively decorated.
Discover the fascinating childhood gallery and a unique Victorian Valentine card collection as the museum tells the story of East Dorset. Explore period rooms from a 17th century hall to the working Victorian kitchen, finding out how life and work has changed in this historic townhouse. Wander through a beautiful and peaceful walled garden. The special exhibitions ‘First World War Stories’ and ‘Uniforms for All’ (sponsored by Bartletts School Wear and Berties Country), will remain up until Christmas.
The museum is also currently hosting the display ‘A Christmas Wish 1914-2014’. Researched and developed by Martin Barry it tells the story of Princess Mary’s Gift, and those of the soldiers and sailors who were given the Gifts a hundred years ago.
The garden tearoom will be open for visitors to relax and enjoy hot and cold drinks, delicious cakes, homemade soup and seasonal refreshments.
