Much loved family pet shot and killed before Christmas
Officers in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a cat was shot in the Southbourne area of Bournemouth – with a reward offered by a member of the public.
Dorset Police were called just after 9am on Saturday 6 December 2014 to reports that a cat had been shot with an air rifle.
It is believed the incident happened sometime between 11am and 7pm on Friday 5 December 2014.
An investigation is underway and officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team have been carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the area.
Police Sergeant Matt Chutter, of Bournemouth police, said: “The cat sustained serious injuries to its abdomen and sadly died despite an operation carried out by a vet.
“This was a very upsetting experience for the family who have lost their treasured pet just before Christmas.
“A kind member of the public is now offering a reward of £1000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
“I am appealing for anyone with information about those responsible for this crime to contact Dorset Police.”
