Bournemouth Jazz Festival is delighted to announce the world premier of a new short documentary video entitled ‘Jazz by the Sea’ at this year’s festival which takes place in Bournemouth town centre over the weekend, 22/23/24 April.
The film was recorded and produced by local film director, John Cadd using a series of iconic images from around Bournemouth town centre and along the beach front. A specially composed sound track uses music recorded at the Boscombe Pier musical trail with percussion and tubular bells played by local drummer Howard Lewis. The film will be projected from the stage of the Bournemouth Jazz Festival Village on Friday night 22 April with help from the digital media unit at the Arts University of Bournemouth and will be shown at various other locations around the town during the weekend.
Festival Director, Gerry Clarke says, “We are delighted that John came forward and offered to use his considerable cinematographic skills to produce this short video which captures the essence of our Jazz Festival by the Sea. It’s all part of our vision to establish the Bournemouth Jazz Festival as a regular music event over the next five years. The town is noted for its highly creative residents and we also have a number of artists in residence this year who will be creating various art forms reflecting the unique nature of our jazz festival.”
