Dave Wolfenden, Managing Director and founder of Abacus, the Ferndown and Andover-based vehicle hire specialist, has announced that corporate van and truck hires were up 10% over the first quarter of this year, one of the first significant increases during winter months for three years, indicating that their clients in the region are getting busier within the current economic climate.
“We get feedback from the staff who collect the vehicles when they need the extra vehicles to keep up with demand. It’s a relief to see that so many of our regional businesses are seeing their order books improve after many flat years where growth has not been achieved,” said Dave.
The company operates a total fleet of 650 vehicles; ranging from cars, vans, trucks minibuses, as well as a dedicated motorhome division. 120 of the older vehicles on the fleet will have been replaced by new stock over the first three months of 2016. Abacus employs a team of 58 people within the Andover and Ferndown hire centres and its sister company Horton Commercials, which is a specialist vehicle servicing, bodybuilding and repair facility. Its annual turnover exceeds £7.5 million.
