Carrie and David Grant help dispel adoption myths
A total of 37 children, including 14 sibling groups of two or more groups are waiting for families in Dorset to adopt them, and TV vocal coaches David and Carrie Grant are helping to dispel the myths surround adoption.
Local, independent adoption charity Families for Children has launched #YouCanAdopt campaign to dispel the myths and highlight the number of children looking for a new family.
The number of adoptions in England has fallen by a third in four years with research showing that many adults would consider adoption but only 25 per cent believe they would be eligible.
Some of the biggest misconceptions around eligibility are that single people, older people, and those who are LGBTQ+ are not allowed to adopt, which is not the case.
The campaign also aims to target potential parents from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, as these children traditionally wait longer to be matched with a new adoptive family. The campaign also aims to encourage potential adoptive parents to consider adopting older children, sibling groups and those with complex health needs or a disability.
