Regent Centre in Christchurch reveals plans for December
Katherine Jenkins, The Royal Ballet, The Secret Garden and Miracle on 34th Street, what is there not to like at the Regent?
Eagerly anticipating the end of the second lockdown, the Regent Centre in Christchurch has big plans for Christmas.
The first production on Thursday 10 December is a broadcast of The Royal Ballet’s much-loved The Nutcracker, presented in a festive period setting with vivid designs.
On Friday 11 December music superstar Katherine Jenkins presents a magical Christmas Spectacular, filmed this year especially for cinemas from the Royal Albert Hall.
Another new made for cinema treat coming your way is A Christmas Carol – an immersive adaptation of a classic family favourite. This will be a real treat for those who love Christmas entertainment, innovative cinema, contemporary dance and ballet or good old-fashioned story telling. It runs from 18 to 20 December.
The Secret Garden is a new family film release for this winter starring Julie Walters and Colin Firth. When Mary Lennox’s parents die suddenly, she is sent to live with her uncle, Archibald Craven, on his remote country estate deep in the Yorkshire moors. While exploring, she discovers a hidden magical garden. Performances are from 21-23 December.
Wrapping up 2020 is Miracle on 34th Street on Thursday 24 December. The 1947 original provides irrefutable proof that gentle sentimentalism can be the chief ingredient in a wonderful film.
