Pothole fund will pay for resurfacing of Bournemouth Road in Poole
For two days Bournemouth Road will be closed to through traffic from the junction of Alexandra Road up to near the Archway Road signal junction.
If you use Bournemouth Road in Poole on a regular basis, you will need to find another route on Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 March.
Resurfacing work, funded by Department for Transport via the £2.9 million Pothole Fund, is to take place from 7.30am-6pm. The road will be closed to through traffic from the junction of Alexandra Road up to near the Archway Road signal junction. The main signed diversion route will be along Richmond Road and Ashley Road (B3061).
The work will be split into two phases – beginning at Archway Road and progressing west – to minimise the time that vehicle access to any particular property is restricted.
BCP Council is timing this work to occur after temporary traffic signals have been removed from Ashley Road. The council will address some localised drainage issues at the same time.
Refuse collection days will be unchanged, although collection times may vary. Bus routes will require alteration so passengers are advised to contact operators for details.
Cllr Mark Anderson, portfolio holder for Environment, Cleanliness and Waste at BCP Council, said, “We apologise to residents and road users for any inconvenience but I’m pleased that we are continuing to take advantage of reduced traffic levels and successful funding bids to improve the quality of our roads, and by doing so enhance the quality of life of people who live and work across the conurbation.”
