Poole Pottery was founded in 1873 when builder’s merchant and ironmonger, Jesse Carter, bought a run-down tile manufacturing company on the quayside.

Jesse Carter’s son Owen developed the art pottery – by the end of the First World War, a wide range of decorative wares was being made.

The Denby group based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire acquired the Poole Pottery brand in 2012. Online items are manufactured in Middleport, Stoke-on-Trent.

An outlet shop for Poole Pottery still exists at Poole Quay, next door to Pavers Shoes.

Poole Pottery is highly collectable. Do you remember the stoneware animal and bird collections? These vintage items can command high prices depending on their rarity.
