Easter family events with Artsreach
The Selfish Giant and Super-Spies in Lockdown are two online events from Artsreach over the Easter period.
We will still be in lockdown over Easter so if you’re looking for something seasonal to occupy the family, Artsreach may have the answer with two online events.
On Thursday 8 April for just £5 per family you can enjoy The Selfish Giant Workshop and Show.
Inspired by the touching children’s story ‘The Selfish Giant’ by Oscar Wilde, Bristol’s two leading family theatre experts, Tessa Bide Productions and Soap Soup Theatre, have combined forces to explore an unusual friendship, and how even the grumpiest giant’s heart can melt when spring finally comes. After the show there is a creative workshop.

And then on Sunday 11 April, families living in Lytchett Matravers, Gillingham and Stalbridge can take part in Super-Spies in Lockdown.
Marvellous leader Mirabel Merryweather, newly initiated Claude Pringle, and all the Super-Spies are under lockdown like everyone else. Unfortunately, they’ve had worrying reports that agents from The Vortex, their rival spy gang, are active and have started luring new spies to the dark side in Lytchett Matravers, Gillingham and Stalbridge. The Vortex are out to sabotage goodwill and positivity in the community, so Super-Spies need a team of young sleuths and their families to brush up on their espionage skills and help solve some vital clues in the fight to stamp out The Vortex.
Devised by Dorset-based Angel Exit Theatre, Super-Spies In Lockdown is an interactive performance game that plays out across two short sessions on a private, secure Zoom chat – each community will have their very own zoom. Between the two meetings, Super-Spies will embark on a clue trail around the town. There will also be a series of fun, interactive challenges and activities available online to access anytime.
Presented by Artsreach, this experience is aimed at families with children aged five to eleven living in Gillingham, Stalbridge and Lytchett Matravers. Each community will have their very own session with the super spies, but capacity is strictly limited to 25 households. The whole family is welcome and encouraged to take part; an adult must accompany children for the zoom calls and on the clue trail.
The first spy meeting takes place online on Sunday 11 April. Super-Spies then come back together on Sunday 18 April to see if the mystery has been solved. Gillingham families will meet at 10.30am; Lytchett Matravers families at 12 noon and Stalbridge families at 2pm. Find out more and secure one of these limited Spy places by visiting the Artsreach website: www.artsreach.co.uk.
The cost is £5 per family and to book see https://artsreach.co.uk/event/super-spies-in-lockdown
