New school will open in Poole in the autumn
Hillbourne Primary School in Kitchener Crescent, which is being rebuilt, will provide facilities including 14 classrooms.
Young pupils in Poole will be able to look forward to joining a new school after the October term.
Hillbourne Primary is being rebuilt by BCP Council on the site at Kitchener Crescent.
Modern facilities will include 14 classrooms, a practical room and learning resource centre; administration block; school hall block; a pre-school with a dedicated play area; two multi-use games areas and outdoor play areas; purpose-built sports pitch and a secure staff car park
The new building will allow flexible use of space to cater for a positive activity offer for young people in the local area.
Cllr Nicola Greene, portfolio holder for COVID resilience, schools and skills, BCP Council said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to develop a brand new fit-for purpose building for the Hillbourne community that will benefit and support our young people to receive a high quality education and give them the best opportunities to grow and flourish.”
Principal contractor, Morgan Sindall Construction has recently completed the roofing along with the external walls. The external glass panels, sprinkler system installation and internal walls are ongoing. The external cladding, brickwork, mechanical and electrical works are all scheduled to be undertaken in the coming month.
