There will be activities and free entry to the museum on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September, from 10.00am until 4.30pm. Later in the month, on Saturday 18 September, from 10.30am until 3pm, the museum will be holding a mini fair in its garden.

During the History Festival, visitors to the museum will be able to take part in Georgian-themed events, in line with the festival’s theme this year. These include:

• Demonstrations to show how wounds and diseases were treated with traditional methods and practices, with Dr Coffin
• A chance to meet the Georgian cook in Mrs King’s kitchen (Saturday only), try some of her delicious biscuits and learn about what life was like for her in the 1700s
• Georgian-themed crafts such as paper basket weaving, masquerade ball masks, silhouette portraits and fashionable fans (10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30-3.30pm each day, charge of £2 per child applies)
• Give the heritage craft of Dorset button making a go (10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30-3.30pm Saturday only, charge of £2 per person applies, suitable for age 11+)

Guided tours of the museum will also be available for £3 per person, and will run at 11.30am, 2pm and 3.30pm each day. Tickets can be booked in advance online at museumofeastdorset.co.uk/events.

The museum’s Autumn Fair will be held on 18 September. Entry will be free via the tearoom and garden entrance next to Wimborne Library.

Stalls will include garden produce, jigsaws, cakes and preserves, and a bottle stall. There will be a raffle on the day with a selection of prizes, along with traditional children’s games.

The event will celebrate Heritage Open Days, and guided tours of the historic house will be run throughout the day. More information can be found at museumofeastdorset.co.uk/events.
