Poole lifeboat was launched at 2.10pm to a report of three paddle boarders clinging to a buoy near Brownsea Castle.

Conditions in the harbour were choppy as a south westerly wind had begun to pick up. When the lifeboat arrived on scene, the paddle boarders were safely ashore on Brownsea Island, where they were staying. A crew member went ashore to check they were okay, which they were, so the lifeboat set back to its station.

Whilst on the way back, the RNLI crew were tasked to help Swanage Lifeboat Station to take over a tow of a 24-foot yacht with two people on-board, which had encountered an electrical fire.

As they made their way to rendezvous with the Swanage crew, Poole lifeboat was redeployed to two youngsters on a broken down jet ski at Shell Bay. They found one person on the jet ski and one in the water. Both were okay and taken on board the lifeboat which returned them and their jet ski safely ashore to Baiter Slip in the harbour.

The Poole crew then caught up with Swanage lifeboat and took over the tow bringing the yacht back to its mooring off Dorset Lake Shipyard.

Poole lifeboat returned to station and after wash down and refuelling, it was ready for service by 5pm.

It was a busy afternoon for the RNLI volunteers and an appeal for donations to help continue launching the lifeboats, so that they can be there in times of need was made.
