Simon Byamakuma appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court on 8 October to be sentenced after he admitted two charges of possessing a class A drug with intent to supply at an earlier hearing at the same court.

Byamakuma aged 30 from Thornton Heath in London was sentenced to 27 months in prison.

At around 11.30am on 15 July 2021 the defendant was seen by officers sitting on a wall in Weston Drive while known drug users were congregating nearby.

Byamakuma was subsequently stopped by officers in Cotlands Road and a search was carried out. During the search, he spat a package out of his mouth that was found to contain 22 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine.

Police Constable Stuart Grant, of the Bournemouth Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We recognise the concern that drug dealing and drug-related activity causes to our communities and we will do all we can to disrupt the activities of dealers such as Byamakuma.

“Thanks to the proactive work of local officers, we were able to identify the defendant as someone involved in the supply chain and bring him before the court to be sentenced.
