Moped riders tried to steal a boy’s bike as he cycled home from school.
At approximately 3.40pm on Monday 27 September a 16-year-old local boy was crossing the bridge over Dorset Way, which leads from Sherborn Crescent to Yarrow Road, when he was approached by three men on a moped.
The suspects drove the scooter toward the victim and one is believed to have kicked the victim’s bike, knocking him off balance and causing him to grab hold of the bridge railing.
The suspects attempted to take the victim’s bike but were unsuccessful. The victim managed to turn his bike around and ran away toward Sherborn Crescent.
Two of the suspects wore black Puffa-style jackets – one with a North Face logo –and the third wore a grey Puffa-style style jacket. At least two of the suspects wore balaclavas and they are believed to be aged in their mid to late teens.
Police Constable Louis Allen, of Poole police, said: “We have now spoken to the victim of this incident and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to please come forward.
“I am also keen to hear from anyone who was travelling along Ringwood Road, Yarrow Road or Sherborn Crescent at the relevant time to please check their dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.
“Finally, I would also ask residents to look through their home CCTV cameras and get in touch if they find anything that may assist my investigation.”
