Council gets to the bottom of loo refurbishment at Lake Pier
Lake Pier lavatories are one of a number of lavatories in the BCP Council area that have been refurbished and subsequently re-opened.
With Storm Eunice battering the area, don’t venture out to check, but in calmer weather, visitors to Lake Pier in Poole will be able to take advantage of an extensive refurbishment of the toilet facility, which includes a disabled toilet and a separate baby changing room.
Cllr Drew Mellor, leader of BCP Council said: “We are committed to investing in and reopening a number of these facilities to maximise people’s experience when going out and about in our area. This programme to refurbish and reopen these facilities highlights that we’re passionate about delivering on our commitment to residents and creating a comparable experience across all three towns.
“We’re hugely ambitious about delivering a world class BCP city region, and investments such as these, go a long way into realising these ambitions.”
Whilst getting to the bottom of the full refurbishment at Lake Pier, which was needed due to major infrastructure damage caused by weather, the flat roof had to be replaced with a pitched roof and all the toilets and utilities have been completely refitted. Portable lavatories were provided for use in the interim.
Cllr Mark Anderson, portfolio holder for Environment and Place said: “I am delighted that these toilets have been fully refurbished and are once again reopen for everyone visiting Lake Pier.”
Other lavatory refurbishment works are currently taking place at Hamworthy Park and at The Haven, Sandbanks.
The Lake Pier facilities are open from 8am-6pm in the winter until the Easter school holidays on 8 April and 8am-8pm in the summer from 9 April –30 September.
