The collision happened on the morning of 5 July in Redwood Drive, Ferndown. It involved a highways lorry that was carrying out resurfacing work and a male pedestrian.

Officers attended along with the ambulance service and very sadly the pedestrian, a 54-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are being supported by specially-trained officers.

A man aged in his 30s was arrested in connection with the incident and has now been charged with causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 7 July 2022.
