Eco friendly lighting to be installed at West Moors tennis court
LED lighting is to be installed at the tennis court in West Moors, benefitting players and those of the adjacent skate park.
The tennis court at West Moors is to be made available to users for longer hours in the future.
The town council’s LED Tennis Court Lighting Project has received a Tesco Community grant of £500.
Voting was held at Tesco stores between Friday 1 July and Thursday 30 September and proved to be very successful with millions of votes being cast by Tesco customers across England, Scotland and Wales.
This award will allow West Moors Town Council to proceed very soon with the installation of LED lighting at the tennis court, which will not only benefit the users of this free facility but also the users of the recently renovated skate park, directly adjacent, which welcomes hundreds of people a week.
Installing LEDs would make the courts accessible for a lot longer in the evenings, for family and friends to socialise, encouraging community cohesion and helping to reduce the council’s carbon footprint.
Funding is available to community groups and charities looking to fund local projects that bring benefits to communities. To find out more visit www.tesco.com/communitygrants.
