Get ready for the Broadstone song.
Written and performed by local musician Owen Moor, the unique song is one of the attractions to be seen and heard at Broadstone’s special event this Bank Holiday Saturday, 4 May.
The event, the first of it’s kind for Broadstone will showcase what is on offer every day in the village: two butchers, two bakers, two greengrocers, two pubs, cafes, sports centre and a range of individual quality stores.
The event has been inspired by a government cash injection from the Mary Portas Fund earlier this year and is designed as a way of connecting local businesses, charities and organisations directly with the community.
As well as participation by local retailers and the Chamber of Trade there are numerous other attractions; street artists, musicians, competitions as well as special offers from local retailers on the day. The Junction Leisure Centre is offering adult and child swims for just £1.
Following the trend for home baking on the television, the first “Broadstone Bake Off” competition is also being held on the afternoon and there is still time for budding Mary Berry’s or Paul Hollywood’s to enter.
Above all this is an opportunity for local businesses and services to welcome and engage with visitors and residents. Simon Merry, Chairman of The Broadstone Chamber of Trade says, “On this special day we aim to show that Broadstone has a lot to offer. Whether you are local or travelling in from further afield you will find value, choice and quality as well as friendly faces.”
The day is rounded off with a charity ball at Broadstone Golf Club run jointly with the Chamber of Trade and Barclays Bank. Proceeds from the day’s events will go to Poole Hospital Neonatal Unit and Chamber community activities including the Christmas lights.
