Santas raise £1,300 for Julia’s House
Organised by Wimborne Rotary, more than 120 runners took part in the Santa Fun Run next to the River Stour.
The Santa Stour Fun Run, organised by Wimborne Rotary raised £1300 for Julia’s House, the Corfe Mullen children’s hospice.
More than 120 runners, many dressed in Santa suits, assembled at Wimborne Football Club preparing to tackle either a 2.5K or 5K course running next to the River Stour. After a short warm-up session introduced by Wimborne town crier, Chris Brown, the runners were sent on their way in a mass start by Wimborne Football Club chairman, Tony Grant.
As well as Wimborne Rotarians, the route marshals included members of the 1st Wimborne Scout Troop who also provided hot drinks and gave out mince pies as competitors completed the course.
Organiser, Rotarian Neil Hutchinson said: “I would like to thank all the runners and marshals who turned up to support Julia’s House. All the runners safely and successfully completed the course and I think that everyone enjoyed their run.”
