Free licences for coronation street parties in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole
People have until 24 March to apply for a free street licence to hold a street party in their area to mark the Coronation of His Majesty The King.
With the Coronation of HM King Charles III and HM The Queen Consort just three months away, residents in the BCP Council area are being invited to apply for a free street party licence.
There is a three-day bank holiday weekend from Saturday 6 May to Monday 8 May.
The Coronation will take place on the morning of Saturday 6 May at Westminster Abbey, and on Sunday 7 May, Coronation Big Lunches will bring communities together with a special Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle.
On 8 May, The Big Help Out will provide an opportunity to reflect on the legacy of The King’s service and showcase the impact of volunteering within communities.
BCP Council is waiving the usual administration fee for street party road closures.
Cllr Beverley Dunlop, portfolio holder for Tourism, Culture and Vibrant Places said: “The King’s Coronation marks a special time in our history, and it is an opportunity for us to come together again to celebrate.
“I would urge anyone thinking of holding a street party to visit our website now and complete the application form to get the ball rolling.”
Applications need to be submitted by 24 March. See https://www.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/News/News-Features/The-Coronation-of-King-Charles-III/The-Coronation-of-King-Charles-III.aspx
The Big Screens will be in position over the weekend in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole broadcasting the national events and further local events will be announced in the coming days.
