Bruno Tonioli hits golden buzzer for Phoenix Boys
The dance company, which included a boy from Bournemouth, made a hit with judges of Britain’s Got Talent.
A boy from Bournemouth was amongst a dance company which received the golden buzzer on last Saturday night’s episode of Britain’s Got Talent.
Teddy Holton-Frances is a member of Phoenix Boys, which includes dancers from all over the UK.
In fact, such was judge Bruno Tonioli’s excitement that he hit the golden buzzer so hard that it smashed as he said the group reminded him of being a young male dancer.
Members of the group said it felt like everything was frozen in time and getting the gold was the most surreal experience and the happiest moment of their lives. The group enjoyed a standing ovation from the whole auditorium at the London Palladium.
Teddy said: “Receiving the Golden Buzzer was a dream come true. It made me jump it was so loud. I just couldn’t believe it. I still can’t believe it happened.”
Teddy trains at Pure Drama Theatre School and Prompt Corner Academy of Dance and attends Avonwood Primary School and said he cannot wait to go live in front of the nation in a few weeks with his friends.
Update 22 May 2024: Since publishing this post, Dorset View has discovered there were two Bournemouth boys in the Phoenix Boys dance group that got the golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent.
Tyler Vandev is also a proud member of the group. Aged 16 he trains at Poole’s Steppin’ Out Academy and attends Bournemouth’s specialist LeAF Studio School specialising in performing arts. Tyler said: “Being on Britain’s Got Talent Is a dream come true. It’s such an honour to be part of Phoenix Boys and getting the golden buzzer was a really emotional time for us all.”
Both boys are looking forward to performing live in front of the nation in the semi-finals.
