Road closure on Glenferness Avenue in Bournemouth
The road will be closed between the junction of Glenferness Avenue and Leven Avenue from 8-12 July and traffic delays are expected.
Motorists can expect delays if they need to access Glenferness Avenue in Bournemouth from 8-12 July as it will be closed at its junction with Leven Avenue.
Works taking place include resurfacing and road line painting associated with the new toucan crossing and stepped cycle lanes that have recently been installed between Leven Avenue and Rothesay Road.
A signposted diversion will be in place while the work is carried out. Pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained throughout the works, and access to local properties will be unaffected.
Julian McLaughlin, director for Infrastructure at BCP Council, said: “We are expecting some journeys to be delayed while this road closure is in place, so please allow extra time for travelling through this area.
“I’d like to thank anyone affected in advance for their patience and understanding while this essential work is carried out.”
Funded through central government’s Transforming Cities Fund, this work forms part of the ongoing walking, wheeling and cycling improvements in the Glenferness Avenue area around Leven Avenue, Benellen Avenue, Branksome Wood Road, Queen’s Road and Prince of Wales Road into the Upper Gardens.
Once completed there will be a safe and sustainable travel route running all the way between the town centre, Talbot Woods, Winton and Wallisdown.
