Poole’s Twin Sails Bridge re-opens to traffic
The Twin Sails Bridge, which had been closed for repairs for three months, is now open to traffic following works.
Poole’s Twin Sails Bridge re-opened to traffic on Friday last week, following completion of repair works.
Cllr Andy Hadley, portfolio holder for Climate Response, Environment and Energy, BCP Council said: “Getting the Twin Sails bridge re-opened has been a priority. Our teams have worked hard and engaged with specialist contractors and manufacturers to get these repairs complete.”
He said there had been over 20 test lifts on Friday and the bridge will continue to be monitored over the coming days.
Cllr Hadley added: “We continue to work on the long-term plan for the bridge, including identifying suitable funding sources to restore the bridge to full service.
“I would like to thank everyone for their patience whilst the repair works have been carried out.”
The bridge had been closed for three months. It had been in the raised position since a fault was found during an inspection in mid May.
The bridge, which cost £37m to build, opened in 2012.
