Woman attacked near Boscombe Pier
Three people from Bournemouth were arrested on Saturday 14 September following an assault on a woman near Boscombe Pier that involved a hammer.
A woman in her 30s was assaulted on Saturday 14 September near Boscombe Pier, leading to three arrests. Police are now seeking witnesses and further information.
Dorset Police received a report at around 7.35pm of an altercation between four people in which the victim was assaulted.
It is believed the four individuals were known to each other, and one was reportedly in possession of a hammer.
Officers attended the scene and detained three people. Two women from Bournemouth – one aged 35, the other 59 – were arrested on suspicion of assault, as well as affray and possession of an offensive weapon. A man aged 57, also from Bournemouth, was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon. They have been released on police bail as officers continue their enquiries.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to head and facial injuries.
Bournemouth Police Constable Rachael Birch said: “Officers responded swiftly and robustly to this incident and detained three people at the scene.
“We understand that there were a number of people present at the time of the reported altercation and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident who hasn’t already spoken to police to please get in touch.
“I would also ask any residents or motorists in the area to please check their home CCTV and dashcams to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”
