Wimborne Community Theatre to host coffee morning
A local community theatre wants to meet residents to discuss the theme for their next project, centred on the concept of ‘home’.
What does home mean to you? That’s the question at the heart of Wimborne Community Theatre’s new project. To help answer that question, the theatre group is inviting local residents to an informal coffee morning on Saturday 5 October.
The new theatre project will focus on the theme of ‘home’ and what it means to long-time Wimborne residents as well as newcomers. Is Home a place, or a feeling, or both?
Residents of all ages, new or long-time, are invited to an informal coffee morning hosted by Wimborne Community Theatre in the hall above Wimborne Methodist Hall, 4A King St, Wimborne, BH21 1DY. Topics to be discussed include what it feels like when you move to a house in an unfamiliar town, or when your familiar ‘home town’ begins to change.
Attendees are also welcome to bring a special object that sums up the idea of ‘Home’, perhaps something they would always take with them when they move. The theatre troupe would love to hear the story behind this object.
Wimborne Community Theatre member Gill Horitz said: “We begin many of our productions by listening to local people’s ideas on a particular theme, as part of the creative process, and it is from these ideas and stories that we begin to shape the narrative of the play. We look forward to hearing your ideas about ‘what is HOME’.”
Wimborne Community Theatre began making productions over 30 years ago, creating theatre in the landscape and non-theatre buildings. They have developed and performed over 20 productions inspired by local places and the lives of inhabitants, past and present, real and fictional.
The coffee morning will be held from 11am to 12.30pm on Saturday 5 October at Wimborne Methodist Hall, 4A King St, Wimborne, BH21 1DY, in the hall upstairs.
