Castleman Academy Trust celebrates 10th anniversary
The name of the Wimborne solicitor responsible for railway line building lives on with this academy trust.
An education trust that was named after the Wimborne solicitor who was chiefly responsible for building the railway line between Southampton and Dorchester has celebrated its 10th birthday.
The Castleman Academy Trust has five schools – Broadstone First and Middle schools, Ferndown First and Middle Schools and Parley First School.
The trust also trains teachers and teaching assistants and currently employs 367 staff and has 2,178 pupils.
The Trust’s CEO Rhonda Moore said: “We are a trust that not only focuses on the children, but also on our staff. Great staff provide great learning for children.
“Our Teacher Training programmes means we are able to offer first-hand experience in our schools and nearly all of them go on to work for us; and we have a clear career pathway.
“We also train teaching assistants and provide coaching and leadership development, all of which benefits the children.
“Having five schools means we are able to share resources and best practice as well as reducing costs through bigger buying power.
“Charles Castleman, after whom we’re named, was a great visionary and entrepreneur and was passionate about developing the local area.
“In the same way, we are passionate about developing the talent and potential of young people in the area.
“We are committed to ensuring all our students experience inspirational learning – our sole purpose is to ‘advance education for public benefit’.
“To mark our 10th anniversary, we held a board meeting for all board members present and past and enjoyed a pub meal.
“We are looking to the future and the next decade – and are always striving for ways to improve the trust and deliver for all our children.”
