Female pedestrian dies on Upton Bypass
Dorset Police believe many people witnessed this tragic collision and are asking people to come forward with any dashcam footage.
A 24-year-old Poole pedestrian has died following a collision on the Upton Bypass.
Dorset Police received a report at 8.10pm on Wednesday 4 December of a concern for the welfare of a woman who was walking eastbound on the A35 Upton bypass from Upton towards the Shell garage. It was subsequently reported that the woman had been involved in a collision with a vehicle a very short time after.
The road was closed for emergency services to respond to the incident.
The woman was taken to hospital where she was very sadly pronounced dead.
Police Sergeant Lee Savage, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who sadly died in this collision and we have specially trained officers supporting them at this difficult time.
“We know there were a large number of witnesses to this incident and I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened and has not already spoken to police to please come forward.
“Also, I am keen to speak to any motorists who saw or captured dashcam footage of the woman walking along the dual carriageway, the manner of driving of other motorists or the moments leading up to the collision to contact us.”
