Nativity season begins across Dorset
Schools across the county including Witchampton First School have begun retelling the story of the nativity to parents.
Nativity season has begun in Dorset. Schools across the county are staging recreations of the birth of Jesus Christ for enthusiastic parents.
On Wednesday 11 December, Witchampton First School began their Christmas celebrations with a traditional nativity play. The whole school took part with students playing sheep, angels, travellers and kings, and Mary and Joseph were accompanied by Grumbles the Donkey.
The children impressed their parents, carers and teachers with their confident acting, singing and dance skills.
Sharon Staddon, executive headteacher of Witchampton First School, part of Initio Learning Trust, said: “The children put on an amazing nativity and gave a great performance after working so hard.
“I was so impressed at how the children, particularly those with speaking parts, rose to the challenge of performing in public and I hope that their parents were very proud.
“As a Church of England school, we are pleased to mark the Christmas season with a traditional nativity play, reflecting our Christian values.
“I would like to thank all the staff for their hard work in preparing this nativity and to all the parents for coming along to support the school.”
Emma, aged four, told Dorset View how much she enjoyed taking part in the nativity: “My favourite bit was signing ‘Very Important Kings’ and my class’s song ‘We’ve got good news for you.’”
