The amazing underwater wildlife surrounding our local coastline will be the focus of an illustrated talk at Moors Valley Country Park and Forest, near Ringwood, on 8 June.
Centred around his own stunning photography, Dr Matt Doggett, the current British Wildlife Photographer of the Year, diver and Southampton-based marine biologist, will take his audience on an underwater tour of the Dorset and Hampshire coastline, revealing the rich biodiversity of our local waters.
Matt describes the tompot blenny as the cutest fish in Britain as “they are just plain cheeky” and his work around our coastline is proof that you don’t have to travel vast distances to take incredible images. Matt took the first photograph of a snakelocks anemone shrimp ever recorded in mainland UK waters – which he found tucked under Swanage Pier.
Part of a series of 25 wildlife events marking the 25th anniversary of Moors Valley Country Park, the ‘Dorset’s Coast’ illustrated talk starts at 7.30pm and costs £4. Parking is included in the ticket price. For more information and booking call 01425 470721 or go to www.moors-valley.co.uk
