Sycamore children(year 1) at Verwood CE First School enjoyed a day out at Lulworth Castle on 9 May. The visit was organised as part of their castles project. They climbed the tower, looked for bats, secret passages and picnicked in the beautiful parkland. The children thought the trip was a winner, and loved imagining they were defending the castle tower from invaders when they reached the top of the very high tower. Highlights of the day included learning about the great fire that damaged the castle in 1929 and pretending to be fire-fighters.
During this term’s project they have written an information book about castles and enjoyed creating and playing in their new castle role-play area.
