Woman robbed by teenager in Swanage in broad daylight
Dorset Police are seeking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident which took place in Queens Road on Thursday 1 August.
A woman in her 60s was attacked and robbed by a teenager in Queens Road in Swanage during the town’s carnival week.
Between 10.20am and 10.30am on Thursday 1 August, the victim was pushed to the ground and her handbag, which contained a phone, cash and make-up, was stolen.
It is reported that the offender then made off from the scene with a group of young people. The offender is described as a teenage girl with long, mousey hair and she was wearing a black hooded top and black jeans.
The victim sustained minor injuries to her face and legs but did not require hospital treatment.
Fortunately, her phone was found discarded at the junction between Bell Street and Marsh Way by a member of the public and has now been returned.
Police Constable Peter Daly, of Wareham police, said: “This was a very distressing experience for the victim and we are carrying out a number of enquiries to identify the person responsible for this robbery.
“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour in the areas of Queen Roads and Bell Street.
“I would also ask any residents or motorists driving in these areas at the time of the assault to please review their home CCTV and dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”
