Dean Whitby, branch manager at Kare Plus Bournemouth and a member of Lewis-Manning trust’s 100,000 Business Club recently completed the 10k Bournemouth Bay Run in an effort to raise £1,000 for the charity. Dean explains that the reason he got involved in the event is not only because he wanted Kare Plus to do something for charity but because he believes in Lewis-Manning’s agenda.
Whitby, who had lost his grandfather to cancer said, “My Grandad died of cancer and he spent a bit of time in and out of a hospice and I remember what a difference it made to him so I wanted to make that difference for someone else.”
With the hospice due to open its bedrooms later this year, the money will be used to provide unique end of life care where carers and families, with nursing support, can be with their loved ones at all times and have the use of special family rooms for overnight stays.
Maria Tidy, fundraising manager at the hospice, said, “We are so grateful to Dean and to all the members of our 100,000 Club for their hard work and effort. The club is a great opportunity for local businesses that not only want to network to promote their business but also want to support a charity within their community through corporate social responsibility. Dorset is full of businesses that can collectively have a massive impact on our work.”
