A woman whose friend was recently diagnosed with cancer has raised over £1,300 for Bournemouth Hospital Charity.
Tracey Hudson, who works for HSBC in Poole, met her friend Jeryl Lashmar when she started working at the branch a few years ago. She was shocked when Jeryl told her that she was ill just before Christmas and decided to organise a charity event to achieve something positive out of the situation.
Tracey’s charity evening at the Twin Sails Wharf in Poole last month raised over £800 through ticket sales and a raffle, with a further £500 donated by HSBC.
The £1,300 will go towards buying medical equipment for the new Jigsaw Building at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Tracey said: “Jeryl really is the life and soul of the party. She’s such a lovely lady who would do anything for anyone and is coping amazingly well with her treatment.
“I’m delighted with the amount raised and hope that it helps others who are going through a tough time.”
Melanie Croydon, Communications Officer for Bournemouth Hospital Charity, said: “The Jigsaw Building will be the home of the new state-of-the-art Women’s Health Unit and Cancer and Blood Disorders Unit, benefiting thousands of people from the region.
“We are very grateful to Tracey and HSBC and wish Jeryl all the very best with her treatment.”
