Panto stars make shining lights

Bournemouth’s Panto Stars have performed the first official Christmas light switch on at Castlepoint Shopping Park. An excited crowd gathered to watch children’s favourite and ‘Blue Peter’ Presenter Barney Harwood was joined by Tiger Lily, TV’s ‘Kushaboom’ host Helena Dowling and Captain Hook in the shape of popular actor and former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant Mark Benton, to officially plunge the switch and illuminate the £30,000 worth of new lighting.

Trains steam ahead at auction

Two popular collections of model trains attracted huge interest at Lawrences Auctioneers of Crewkerne last week.
Both collections were compiled by a gentleman in the Taunton area. The first collection included a large number of Wrenn, Hornby and Bachmann locomotives, all boxed and in good condition. With interest from private buyers and dealers, estimates were left far behind as the collection raised over £12,000 in auction.

Bournemouth man convicted of murdering his father

A Bournemouth man has been convicted of murdering his father in Southbourne last year.
Nathan Robinson (26) was found guilty of the murder of William Spiller by a jury at Winchester Crown Court on 27 November following a full trial.
He had previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter which was rejected by the Crown Prosecution Service.
