A Safer Poole Partnership fundraising event proved to be a huge success, with the team managing to collect a huge selection of donated presents, which will go directly to BCHA’s Women’s Refuge and outreach service users and children.
It took place in a vacant shop in Kingland Road and also raised £1,541. Stalls included a candy floss stand and photobooth, plus face-painting, glitter tattoos and a cake sale and outside there was live music plus a Hot Radio breakfast broadcast.
Held in partnership with Soroptimist International, Women’s Institute, Poole, Borough of Poole, Dorset Police and Stand and Matter, all the money raised will be split between local domestic abuse support services: BCHA Women’s Refuge, Dorset Rape Crisis and The Purple Teardrop campaign.
Paul Tucker, Campaigns and Communications Manager at BCHA, said, “We are extremely grateful to Safer Poole Partnership for putting on this event and to the members of the public who so generously donated. The response was overwhelming and the presents will be hugely appreciated by the children in our Women’s Refuge in Poole.
“Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time for women and children but through people’s generosity, we can help provide some joy through small gifts and support them through the festive period in the knowledge that this year they are safe and not living with fear, intimidation and violence.”
